Hi Public Safety friends! My name is Brian Nelson. I have been in the Public Safety Technology arena for nearly 25 years. I've amassed a unique set of skills that I'm ready to share.
I was hired as a vendor to install a public safety tool called CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch). Prior to this project, the agency operated on paper.
The technical and operational capabilities of our public safety answering positions (911 centers) started accelerating with the rest of the world in 2000. Cooperation between agencies in the use of that new Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and later a Records/Jail Management System (RMS/JMS) solidified our counties desire to remain at the forefront of public safety technologies.
As the decade progressed, we led initiatives to connect our communities with underground, weather protected, fiber-optic communications. We started building newer dispatch centers and consolidations with our public safety partners and began the concept of geo-redundant data centers to provide the highest level of service possible.
Recently, we've seen the unbelievable transition from the historic E911 system to NG911. Voice is no longer the only method to communicate with our citizens and responders. Text-to/from-911, RapidSOS location information, video and picture sharing are now realities. And no longer being tied to physical carrier trunking, our rollover and “bug-out” options are endless.
